# Live war map

> A world map of conflict that redraws itself as the news arrives. Every country carries a live 0–100 safety score, and every confirmed strike of the last 24 hours is marked where it happened.

| Measure | Value |
|---|---|
| Active conflict zones on the map | 3 |
| Strike markers on the map | 10 |
| Countries and territories on the map | 233 |

Colour runs from dark red (extremely dangerous, 0–30) through amber to green (very safe, 85–100). The bands are fixed, so a country changing colour means its score crossed a threshold, not that the scale moved.

A country only gets markers once two independent models have confirmed military action on its territory from two separate reports; the markers themselves are the individual located reports behind that. They fade out as the 24-hour window closes, while the underlying score recovers far more slowly — which is why a country can be red with no markers on it. See the methodology for the exact rules.

## Active conflict zones

Each row links to that country's full breakdown, with an “on the map” link that opens the globe there. Strike markers are positioned by the location named in the report, not by country centroid, so a strike on a port shows on the port.

## Questions

**What wars are active right now?** 3, as of the timestamp above: Russia, Lebanon, Ukraine. This counts countries with combat on their own territory confirmed by two independent models within the last 24 hours, not declared wars.

**How many wars are going on today?** As of 1 September 2026, 3 countries have confirmed active combat on their own territory: Russia, Lebanon, Ukraine. This counts countries with confirmed fighting in the last 24 hours, not declared wars, so a single conflict involving two countries appears as two entries.

**Where can I see a world map of the most dangerous countries?** This page is that map. Every country and territory is shaded by its live 0–100 safety index, so the darkest areas are the most dangerous ones right now, and the ranked table version is at /most-dangerous-countries.

**What does the live war map show?** Every country and territory shaded by its current safety index from 0 to 100, with a blast marker at the location of each confirmed strike from the last 24 hours. Disputed territories are hatched rather than coloured, because assigning them to one claimant would be an editorial call the data cannot support.

**How often does the map update?** Continuously. New articles are read and scored around the clock, and the map re-renders as soon as a score or a strike changes — typically within minutes of a report appearing.

**Where does the data come from?** Public news feeds and public Telegram channels, read by independent AI models that classify each report by country, threat category and severity. Sources are listed on every event, and the methodology page explains the weighting.
